New Year New You – 5 Ways to Become a Better You This Year

It’s the start of a new year – the beginning of a new beginning.  The most opportune time to set goals that are actually attainable and achievable over this next year.

What are your goals for this year?

New Year – New You

If you’re anything like a majority of the population, your goals for this year revolve around losing weight, saving money, and being healthier.  Well you’ve come to the right place!

Let’s look at the all-too-common resolutions with fresh eyes and dust off our old routines that might have morphed over time.

Let’s get creative, get inspired, and get excited about learning something new and making small changes to our lives that make a huge impact.

These 5 ways to become a better you this year will shed some light on the dark path ahead.  All you have to do is START!  Put one foot in front of the other, and before you know it, you’ve reached your goal.

New Year – New Meals

How many of you get stuck in a routine or a pattern of similar meals?

I know I do.  Even with my blog and always trying to find new and interesting recipes, I still find myself making the same meals over again.

I tend to fall back on the easy, quick, go-to meals that I forget there so much creativity in meal planning and thinking outside the box.  Creating new meals is very rewarding.  With all the food choices out there, we could potentially make a different meal every day of the year!

Okay, okay; I’m not suggesting that.  My goodness that would be a serious undertaking.  But really, think of all the possibilities there are out there and how much fun it would be experimenting and changing your typical routine.

Whole30 Meal Plans

Some of you could be following the Whole30 meal guidelines right now and that’s amazing!  I love it when people start the new year off with the Whole30.  That very challenge is what morphed into my Paleo diet, which I’ve been following ever since that first Whole30.

Are you interested in a full week’s worth of Whole30 meals, a complete grocery list, and suggested prep-ahead notes for each meal?

Whole30 Meal Plans are now live on the blog just for you.  It makes meal planning, prepping, and shopping simple, easy, and fast.

Try Something New

Want to spice up your meals this year?

Try adding new spices to your meals or experiment with a new vegetable.

I saw a recipe for Roasted Radishes the other day.  Honestly, I never thought about roasting them.  Go figure!  I always put them in salads or have them raw for a quick, spicy snack, but never roasted.

Try roasting radishes along side Roasted Beets and Carrots.

Developing your budget is the first, most important step to saving money.  Knowing how much you can afford directly determines how much you need to save.

I created this simple Budget Worksheet that provides an initial analysis of where your money is going.  Most importantly, it offers a quick-start to developing your present budget so you can start saving money immediately.

Cook More at Home

The average family of four can save $4,000 every year just by cooking meals at home instead of dining out at restaurants.

That’s huge!  I bet you can think of a million better uses for $4,000 than wasting it on highly processed and unhealthy foods out at various restaurants.  Not to mention, the additional cost just to have someone serve you the food.

New Year – New Pantry

Want to start fresh for the new year?

The best place to start this process is in your home.  Better yet, in your pantry!

Your pantry is the most fundamental location to initiate and establish change.  The fuel you feed your body is directly proportional to the way you feel; therefore, it is the crucial starting point.

Don’t worry; it will soon spread into other areas of your life as well, but you gotta start somewhere.

Clean Out Your Pantry

Go through your pantry and toss all your non-Paleo foods that secretly crept back into you pantry.

  • Processed Foods
  • Grains
  • Legumes
  • Dairy
  • Sugars

Our Simple Home Kitchen

How many of you have pots and pans collecting dust?

When we moved into a smaller home, we had to think about each piece of equipment, gadget, and tool determine if it was necessary.  Somethings we simply never, or very rarely, used.

  • Downsize
  • Minimize
  • Reorganize
  • Prioritize

Whatever you choose to call it, get rid of the excess clutter, the unused gadgets.  I mean, how many wooden spoons do you really need anyways?

Keep the best of the best – the cream of the crop.  Then, make them all accessible.

If you have to get on your hands and knees to reach the crock pot, how often are you really going to use it?

Yeah, I thought so.

Here are some of the best, highly-recommended kitchen equipment, gadgets, and tools we use on a weekly basis.
