We can accomplish all of the above by changing only one thing – Your Diet.
First, let me introduce myself.
My name is Tanya Hobson. I am, first and foremost, a wife and a mom. My husband and son are the main reason I eat so healthy. Like most moms, our families mean the world to us. Thinking about my son when faced with cravings is a very powerful motivator.
I work by day as a nerdy Civil Engineer and design roads, freeways, and intersections around the great state of Texas. But don’t call me about traffic, I can’t help you there.
I am American of Armenian descent – my great-grandparents immigrated to the United States back in 1911. Our family keeps a lot of the Armenian traditions alive, including the great food. Some of my recipes here incorporate a Mediterranean flair.
My family and I didn’t always follow a Paleo diet. This was a new change for us, brought on by experimentation and research into new ways to stay healthy.
How I Started Paleo
In 2007, I was diagnosed with cancer and had a year of chemotherapy and radiation. The effect of such harsh treatment left its mark on my body by destroying most of my kidneys, which filter out harmful substances from the bloodstream. Due to my very low kidney function (about 15%), I was placed on dialysis and my name was added to the National Kidney Transplant list.
I decided to change and improve my condition – take my life in my own hands and be responsible for it. Starting with the food I ate, I cleaned out my kitchen, developed new routines, and put my body – myself – back in control.
After some really hard work, ongoing research, and now following a Paleo lifestyle, I am officially off dialysis and continuing strong with my own kidneys.
